The Peggy's Cove Coastal Region is ideally positioned to serve as your base for day trips, while you visit nearby Halifax, the South Shore, or the Annapolis Valley, but make sure you reserve several days or more to explore our region - you'll be glad you did. This website divides theThe Peggy's Cove Coastal Region into four area: The Prospect Area, The Peggy's Cove Area, The Tantallon Area and the Hubbards/Aspotogan Area. While these areas have stunning coastal scenery in common; each is unique and offers a different travel experience.


Kayaking in Terance BayAs you leave Halifax and turn onto the Prospect Road (route #333) The Peggy's Cove Coastal Region begins in the community of Goodwood and continues around the Chebucto Penninsula through the communities of Hatchet Lake, Brookside, White's Lake, Shad Bay and Bayside to the village of West Dover. This is the Prospect Area. This drive can easily take all day as you explore the side roads that lead off to the Atlantic Ocean to discover secret spots and experiences.

 
At the head of the Chebucto Penninsula is the Peggy's Cove Preseveration Area and the tiny village of Peggy's Cove with it's iconic lighthouse. Miles deep  glaciers carved this intricate masterpiece on Nova Scotia's Bluenose Coast. You will be in awe by its natural beauty. Plan to spend a day here enjoying the beauty of the Preservation Area and exploring the villages of Peggy's Cove, Indian Harbour and Hackett's Cove.


 


As you continue around the Chebucto Penninsula on The Peggy's Cove Rd. (Still route #333) you enter the Tantallon Area. In the centre of this area is Upper Tantallon, the main commercial centre in our region and where route #333 ends and you turn left on Route #3 towards Hubbards and the Aspotogan Penninsula. There is plenty to explore in this area as and we have lots of suggestions for you.

Moving on Around St Margarets Bay on route #3 you will come to the the home of our area's great beaches - 10 in all. Most of the beaches are right along the road. You will have no trouble finding them. In the centre of our beach area is the beautiful resort town of Hubbards. Here you will find restaurants, a variety of accommodation properties, and shopping, including a great little Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings.
